John Schachter is an Enrolled
Agent and member of the National and Massachusetts Associations of
Enrolled Agents. He is expert in tax issues facing small businesses, individuals,
investors, and multi-national taxpayers and is not afraid of the government.
He has been a valued member of the strategic and management teams of clients'
businesses, a non-profit board member, and a featured speaker at association
meetings. He has worked with small businesses and startups since 1989. A 1986
graduate of Yale University, he enjoyed a career as a singing, dancing
trumpet player in a variety of touring and recording bands. Managing several
small businesses started John off with the real-life experience that makes
him diligent, loyal and sympathetic to his clients, most of whom are
entrepreneurs of one sort or another. In 1993 he started a bookkeeping
service catering to commercial photographers in the Boston area. Graduate studies
at Suffolk University helped him ground his commonsense approach to
accounting and taxation in rigorous theory. He is constantly studying
developments in his field. His practice serves hundreds of clients in various US states and
some foreign countries.
John lives in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts with Karyn Wergland, their son, his
daughter and their cat. His brother is the celebrated Puppetmaster Jake.
For fun, John enjoys: jazz and classical music, reading, crossword
puzzles, movies, plays, and working out.
